Welcome to 'The Crooked Knife' pub and restaurant, located at 29 East 30th Street in Manhattan.  We have a warm bar, charming restaurant and outside dining, serving a variety of International, American, Irish and Italian dishes from our daily changing menu at great value. We have regular music events and enjoy hosting private party events.

You may wonder how we came by the name

"The Crooked Knife"...

While exploring the history of the area, we found that 30th street was considered at one time (and by some still is) to be the northern boundary to Gramercy. The name,, "Gramercy" is an Anglicization of "Cromessie", itself derived from the Dutch Krom Mesje, or "Little Crooked Knife," the name of a small brook or stream meandered like a 'crooked little knife or 'Crom messie' in old Dutch ('Krom mesje') through the area...well, the decision was made to drop the 'little'...and 'The Crooked Knife" was born !!

We are delighted to say The Crooked Knife has gone from strength to strength and are happy to announce that we opened our second Crooked Knife in mid-2010.  CK14 - The Crooked Knife at 14th Street (www.ck14.com) brings the same warm charm to 232 West 14th Street (between 7th and 8th Avenues) in a trendy and happening setting with inventive food and cocktails our customers love.
